Awesome for travel and use at home!! June 28, 2008 E. Pendergrass (Sammamish) This bag has become my purse/laptop bag/carry all! I bought this to take on a family trip it Italy. It performed brilliantly there as my main "purse" and I have been using it as such since we got back six months ago! It is roomy, yet can be compact and can be worn as a backpack or as a messenger bag, it has plenty of pockets and organizational components inside and it is very comfortable to tote around!
Rick Steves Doesn't Always Get It Right June 26, 2008 curmudgeon I would not buy this bag again. I just got back from 3 weeks in Italy with the bag on my shoulder every day and it is a pickpocket's nightmare. That's great unless you're the pickpocket. The main compartment is a royal pain to get into because a) the material at the top of the bag sags tautly across the opening and b) once you get past that there is a padded divider inside that also gets in the way and doesn't want to cooperate. br / br /My second complaint concerns the netted pouch at the bottom of the front flap. It's a great place to store kleenex and reading glasses but even with the flap snapped shut the pouch can turn upside down and dump its contents. Fortunately my wife also brought reading glasses so I was able to make do. br / br /My third complaint concerns the secondary compartment under the flap. It zips down the side, so if you forget to zip it back up you're liable to spill something. br / br /Before I bought this bag I read a review like this from a guy who complained about the main compartment divider. If, like me, you decide to buy the bag anyway and you intend to store your camera in the main compartment, then make sure that you check the camera settings every time you yank it out of the bag. The mode selector wheel on my Sony DSC-9 was always getting spun coming out of the bag. And once on the way in, the plastic battery door cover snagged and came off. Fortunately it fell into the bottom of the bag and it easily snapped back into place.
A lot to like, but not quite there June 10, 2008 MW (Del Rio, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bag because sometimes my "Buzz" from Tom Bihn was not quite big enough for everything I needed to carry. Well this bag can definitely carry more. However there were a few things I didn't like that caused me to return it. My main dislike was the flap. It covered the small pocket in the front where you were most likely to store small things that you wanted to get to quickly. So you had to unbuckle the flap and rebuckle it every time you wanted to unzip something from the pocket. I also didn't like that the bag was taller than it was wide, so that when putting file folders in it, things could fall out. br / br /The good things were that it's a convenient size, shoulder strap was good quality, the bag is expandable, and lots of pockets for organizing things.
Hermione's Beaded Bag September 22, 2007 CB (Fairport, NY USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This bag is like Hermione's beaded bag in the last Harry Potter installment. You can cram a whole lot into this bag, even before you expand it. I carried a laptop with all the junk plus water bottle, books, jacket, iPod, and more on recent trips through Alaska and to San Francisco, all with relative comfort. While it takes some getting used to, I really appreciate the top loading zipper versus having to open the flap. Why is there a flap? Well, near as I can tell, it is so the additional outer pocket has room to expand when the main unit is expanded, a thoughful design. I would imagine I could also strap my jacket in there versus putting it inside.
